Center pieces idea?

Even though Jim and I will not be hosting a sit down dinner, we will have some tables set up so that if people want to sit while they are eating, they can. The caterer will let us have plain white tablecloths and we can rent pieces of orange and hot pink fabric to make an x across the circular tables and add some color without too much cost.

I don't want to leave the tables bare, but I don't want to spend a ton of $$$ on it either. I was thinking about getting one of these for the center of each table and putting an orange or pink pillar or tea light candle inside (whichever looks better). Then it would be minimal and I could possibly even add a little something else around it (maybe mini picture frames with our photo booth shots from our engagement in it???

Thoughts?

  1. My only comment would be maybe to just use plain white candles - sometimes the colored ones are "flavored" and you wouldn't want an overwhelming smell of pumpkin especially since it is inside. I think the colored swatches on the table would be enough to keep w/ the theme. Are you going to have favors? Sometimes that is what else goes on the table. Also, if you are going w/ the cupcakes cake idea, I've seen the cake people put like 4 cupcakes on a fancy plate and that can be a centerpiece itself.

  2. Good idea nicole! The other thing I was thinking of doing was getting a bunch of mini frames (they come in silver but could be spray painted if we wanted more color) and putting copies of the sections of our engagement photo booth shots in the frames. Then people could take them if they wanted to....not sure about that one yet.

We are talking with the baker tonight, though I think we are making a cupcake tree with the cupcakes, but I don't know if 100 cupcakes fit in a tree...... more to think about!

  3. Oh and we are having favors, one of which will be the photo slips from the photo booth, and the other is a secret, but it will not make a good centerpiece. :)

  5. We are having the engagement photo taken on Thursday. Hopefully the photographer can get the finished photo to us ASAP after that. I have the "save the date" cards all ready, just need the photo dropped in and have them printed and I have the address list 90% ready to print out the mailing labels. I am trying to get organized! And yes, the moms can't wait to get a hold of that pic for the newspapers! :)
